The Second Wave of Attack
The second wave was larger than the first and left at 7:00. They brought many reinforcements and weapons for the soldiers already on the beach. The only good thing about this wave attacking was that because of its size, the nazi's gunfire wasn't as concentrated meaning they had more people to shoot at so it was harded to hit all of them. The soldiers from the first wave were supposed to cover the men from the second wave, since their cover fire was ineffective, the casualty rates for the two waves were very high. The second wave ended up just like the first, unorganized and scattered, but there was a team of 100-200 American soldiers that had gotten through the
defenses and began attacking the Germans from the rear. The soldiers began using the natural exits of the beach, the draws, to advance and break through the German defenses.
